Feed-grade ammonium chloride is a type of ammonium chloride primarily used as a feed additive for ruminant animals. Feed-grade ammonium chloride typically contains approximately 99.5% nitrogen. It effectively supplements non-protein nitrogen in ruminants. Additionally, it helps prevent calculi formation in ruminants and improves breeding success rates.

To improve the palatability of standard feed-grade ammonium chloride, some Chinese manufacturers specializing in ammonium chloride production have developed coated feed-grade ammonium chloride additives based on the standard feed-grade product. 

These additives are produced through a specialized process that uniformly coats ammonium chloride granules with a firmly adhering film. This enables gradual release of ammonium chloride within the rumen, preventing excessive ruminal ammonia nitrogen concentrations while improving non-protein nitrogen utilization. It also avoids short-term fluctuations in ruminal pH caused by rapid ammonium chloride dissolution, thereby enhancing feed conversion efficiency.
